Do you think it's ethical for health insurance companies to require a complete checkup before agreeing to insure a client? I ask this because when I first switched over to my own insurance eleven years ago (after aging out of my parents insurance coverage), I was surprised that they didn't require a physical. They asked a bunch a questions but didn't require proof of anything. Of course later I found out that if any answers I gave proved untrue, they would resist covering any medication surrounding it (luckily for me that hasn't been an issue) but at the time I just thought they were being suckers for taking my word.

I am for it. The way I see it, I spend my resources on eating well, working out and living healthy. Why should I pay the same as someone my age, 100+ lbs. overweight, smoking, drinking and not exercising at all?

Didn't the new law passed rule out excluding people for pre-existing conditions? Or is that just children?

At any rate, I've never had to even fill out a form with my health history when switching insurance. For life insurance, yes, but not health insurance.
