First Blood (Rambo) by David Morrell

Has anybody read this book? I did, and I wasn't blown away by it, it was good but it left something to be desired...oddly enough in the book *spoiler* Rambo kills all the policemen in the station, whereas in the movie they all live (huh?), but I still prefer the movie. Of course what would be confusing would be to read the first First Blood novel, and then read the novelization for the second movie back to back, that would be odd, and if anybody's read them, they'd know why.
