How much does your barber/stylist charge you, and do you leave he or she a tip? My barber charges fifteen dollars, and I usually give him a two dollar tip.

I do my own hair because it's cheaper. On the rare occasion that I go and get it "did", I might spend $40-$50 for a wash and set but those are rare. I need my hair maintenanced regularly and am not willing to spend $100 a month to pay for what I can do at home for less than $20.

Look at my Av Pic. Do you think I would pay for a haircut?
I have been cutting what's left of my own hair for over a decade. (Bought my Wohl clippers at Woolworth, however long ago that was).
I once asked a barber if I could get half price of a then $12 haircut since I only have half the hair but he didn't go for it. So I bought the clippers for $16 and conservatively estimating, probably saved $2K since then. I have a clip on guide and just run it over my head and beard about every 3 weeks.

I pay $25.00 for the haircut, tip her $10.00 and the shampoo girl $5.00. I know its a lot but I have a ball when I go get my haircut, my haircutter is a lesbian and we have a lot of laughs and sometimes serious conversations. I like the way she cuts my hair. I could probably go to a barber and get it cut for about $10.00 but then I would not have any fun.

You know Tony, I have a pair of shears AND a bottle of Suave here.
I can give you that same hookup for oh…$23.50 (of course that doesn't include your tip.)
I'm just sayin'.

As it should be. $50 for a wash and set is beyond ridiculous. I get mine for $10. This is why Dominican hairstylists are putting the black ones out of business. I personally, get my hair done about once or twice a month. I do my own hair for the most part. If I want a specific style or want it colored, that's when I go to the salon.

$13 plus tip at the barber. Think I'll go tomorrow after work.

I pay 60 dollars for the cut and leave her a 10 dollar tip, 20 at Christmas. I used to get my hair cut every couple of months when I had it shorter:
But now that it's longer I wait like 6 months because I've been growing it out for 4 years.
I have a TON of hair and at all the cheaper places I've been, I have never been happy with it, but I finally found a lady who makes it so I can just wash, scrunch, and go and that's SO worth it.
