Ignoring the threat of STDs and/or unwanted pregnancy (the person in question is always hellbent about practicing safer sex methods), do you think promiscuity is wrong? In other words, if someone regularly has sex with multiple people–including ONS's with strangers–in the same week (and has had partners that range in the hundreds), do you feel that this is wrong, or makes them a person of questionable character?

Uh, NO!

With my history of the sexual revolution in the '60s where I did one night stands (actually one-hour stands then back into the field), where I didn't even know the name of the person I was fucking and where I had friends with benefits before that even became a catch phrase, I have to say I do not consider promiscuity wrong.

In fact I consider it a natural state of our species and those who follow other models of behavior may be going against nature.

Now I do follow some restraint. I have not made love to hundreds of ppl, just 60 over a lifetime (a quarter century of which I was in relationships).

There's nothing wrong with having an active sex life, but when it reaches the level of "promiscuity," then that is bad. Just like there isn't anything wrong with drinking until it gets to be so excessive that it can be called alcoholism.

I think that infidelity is wrong, not promiscuity. But I am a romantic at heart so I think it’s better when two people find their “soul mates” and become exclusive with each other. I think it’s better but realistically I know that’s rarely the case. So as long as they’re being responsible and safe, I say have at it. Unless, that is she’s a nymphomaniac and he’s a satyr. Get some help then.

I don't see anything really wrong with it, if thats your thing then do it, however if in a relationship then I would say its very wrong.

In ancient American Indian cultures, when the children became teenagers, promiscuity was heavily encouraged with them, however when they finally married, the men seldom had more than one wife, never more than two or three, and the women could very easily get divorced from their husbands, so it seems to me that once they were partnered up, they pretty much had to stick with the ones they married. Now, while a lot of the things they did thousands of years ago are very radical and 'modern' by our standards (women could get divorce, women were the heads of the households, they selected the tribe chiefs, etc), one thing to remember is back then the life expectancy was what, about 30? So you WOULD have to find somebody you were sexually compatible with because everybody had a lot of kids back then. Today that's not the issue, so this is one area where I think out with the old is a fitting idea. And while it comes down to what each indivudal thinks is best for them, I really can't see much benefit in being a doorknob that everybody's had a turn with.

Essentially, you're entitled to do what you want to do as long as you're not hurting anybody but it does raise the question about your character. Why are you fucking everybody? Pick one or three and be easy. I fail to see the thrill or 'excitement' of sleeping with any and everybody.

I would say I'm a liberal on most things, but with this I'm more conservative. I believe sex should be saved for people you care about and/or love. Sex is missing a major component if there's no heart and soul in it. I used to be, what I call a "former whore," but I have "reformed." Back in the days when I was promiscuous it didn't make me feel good. It didn't make me feel a lady, it made me feel cheap.

I see nothing wrong with having as much sex whenever and with whoever you want if you always practice SS.

Yes I do believe it is morally wrong. Never have seen ANY good whatsoever come of it that isn't gone within minutes.

Promiscuity is a lot like overeating, it shows a lack of impulse control. It's not that big a leap from having a sex addiction.
