Do you believe in curses?

Do you believe a thing or a person could really be cursed? Like the Archduke Ferdinand's car, or the bricks from the garage the St. Valentine's Day Massacre occurred in, or stuff like that?


I'm not sure if I do or not, on one hand it all sounds very silly, but on the other hand, how much coincidence can just be coincidence before a line is crossed?

I remember on Unsolved Mysteries Robert Stack told of a chair that its owner cursed just before he hanged, that anyone who sat in it would die...and there were several accounts of people who sat in it, some who had heard the story, some who didn't, some who just sat down for a minute while waiting on someone, they all died soon after, car crash, brain tumor, etc., and to this day that chair hangs up in a museum somewhere and it's never taken down, not even to be dusted. So I think you gotta wonder.

Nope! I think that people who believe in curse are more likely to associate any negative coincedence that occurs to something as being part of a curse, and they are also more likely to see the negativity associated with something that they presume to be cursed in the first place. It's sort of like a self-fullfilling prophecy. I believe in certain types of ESP (precognition, clairvoyance, telepathy, etc), but that's about the extent of my paranormal beliefs. I don't believe in telekinesis, or astral projection, nor do I believe in "curses", "spells", "ghosts", "tarrot cards", "palm reading", "astrology" ect.

I lean towards no. Overall, I can't too much buy into some sort of cosmic force damning someone in theory.

I think that you could believe that something was cursed and it becomes self fulfilling. I don't know if I believe in actual curses or not. There are things that have happened to me that make me think that there are things that have more power than one might suspect...Curses? IDK.

I don't think so. This girl I used to know back when we were kids has become a Satanist and is VERY proud of it. She'll often... I don't even know the word but cast curses, I guess, on those she's upset at. When her ex wanted joint custody, she said several times that she was setting up some black magic and was going to cast some spells on him and curse him. She's made references to cursing other people, too, but I don't know if she's had any success. I don't really believe in them myself, but she sure does.

If I thought it was that easy and effective to just cast curses on people, I would've done it long before now; I don't believe Satanists have a corner on that market, just like even though they seem to think they do, I don't believe Catholics have a corner on the exorcism market.

Well - lol - I didn't say she was the most intelligent person out there. She flunked out of high school and has tried taking courses since then and never manged to stick with anything. She lives on welfare and supposedly has a mental health illness that amazingly showed up after she roomed with a couple of other people who also had mental health issues. She's 30 but acts more like she's 15 or so. But yeah - I don't think she realizes just how dumb it makes her look when she's posting on facebook about casting curses on people.

Anyway, to the OP, I don't. The way I think of it is that there are infinite connections/interactions in the world and some are just defined by repeated bad result.

LOL - yeah - most of the time I just shake my head at her. I wonder what she does when her curses don't amount to anything, 'cause if they did, she'd be bragging non-stop about it, but instead, we hear nothing after her threats and whatnot.
