Forget Cheetah, Wonder Woman's greatest foe has turned out to be... the Peacock.
NBC is passing on executive producer David. E. Kelley's television reboot of the D.C. superheroine for the fall season, Deadline.com reported.
The prospective "Wonder Woman" series, starring "Friday Night Lights" actress Adrianne Palicki in the title role, may still be shopped to a cable network, the web site reported.
Created in 1941 for DC Comics by psychologist Dr. William Moulton Marston in an attempt to create a role model for young girls, Wonder Woman has grown over the decades to be the most popular female superhero in comics.
The character's popularity peaked in the 1970s with the popular television series starring Lynda Carter in the red and gold bustier and the blue star-spangled short-shorts.
"I think she looks fabulous," Carter told EOnline in March when the first photos of Palicki in costume hit the Internet. "It's a new look and, jeez, her body looks fantastic."
Many fans, however, were less enthused as bloggers complained over the casting and the costume. | |
