| When you were a kid, did your parents ever piss you off so much that you gave them the silent treatment? Have your kids ever done that to you? | |

| I never did that, but my daughter has given me the silent treatment before. I actually admire her self control when she does that. | |

| The "silent" treatment would have been considered disrespectful and my parents weren't tolerant of disrespect. The most I ever did was not speak to them unless I was spoken to. | |

| Nah, I did a couple of times the 'I'm never talking again' thing but that didn't last long. Although my mother had a form of the silent treatment that she would use on us when we made her mad. | |

In a way this applies to me as well. I recall from time to time being so angry with my parents that I would leave the room when they were around and not make casual talk with them, but I could have never gotten away with them speaking to me and not saying anything back.

Yeah, that I couldn't do. But me not voluntarily speaking to my folks, mom especially, has happened. She didn't give a damn, of course.

| I never talked to my parents much anyway, so if I got quiet when mad, it wasn't a huge change.
My son has decided recently that he should pull that junk when he is mad and asked a question. It makes me so mad, so now he is grounded if he doesn't respond.

| The few times I remember pulling a silent treatment, it was foiled. The whole idea is to goad an angry reaction from your parents, but mine never took the bait. When I would go into silent mode, they basically laughed it off or dismissed my petty attitude. | |
