By gifted, I mean those with higher IQs, test scores, or an obvious creative talent. If school administrators discover that a child who attends public school is 'gifted,' would it be wise for his parents to pull him out of school and send him to one that catered to his gifts, or continue to treat him as they always had?

My niece is one of those gifted children, and she was put in the gifted programs for most of her life, whether for better or for worse I don't know, I just know those're the facts with her.

I think that they should be in a school where their talents are maximized, but most importantly, if they are in a challenging environment, they won't get bored.

Even in sports and music, there are advanced teams and groups, so it stands to reason a child that is gifted academically, he should be given the best path to cultivate that.

Yes, the literal "old school" of thot that every kid be uniformly educated was the cause of so many brilliant ppl failing - they were not stimulated to excel and got bored with the rote learning of their peers while they had advanced to higher conceptual thinking.

When I was a model for art classes, I was hired at the New World School of Arts in Miami and it was such a pleasure working with these gifted young artists. They still had a regular Miami-Dade County school curriculum but their particular talent was challenged by professionals. Like the "Fame" school on which it was modeled, the kids had to audition to be accepted.

And, I could tell the difference in skill of their work as compared to some of the college classes I worked where ppl were just doing the course and not so talented.
