    What do you spend the most money on and get the most of in the way of things that are not necessities?


    For me, aside from junkfood because I get a lot of that, my biggest one is books...I'll go a month or so without buying new clothes, sometimes longer than that before buying new movies, I got one CD in the last few weeks, but almost every week or every other week I usually buy several books from one of the thrift shops around here. I have no idea how many I own now, maybe around 1500, but for me it's just easier to have most of them on hand in a moment's notice than waiting to get them from the library.

    How about everyone else? What's your #1 luxury item that you know you should probably cut back on but don't think you will?

    I maintain a 550 DVD collection. Sometimes assess them and give away those that I know I won't be watching again (got two dozen waiting for my daughter to pick up now).

    Also, I go to movies weekly but it only costs $7.50 for a matinee (I never go at night and never buy movie refreshments)

    That's it. Got an old Dell computer, an RCA 19" tube TV that still works. I don't live a luxurious lifestyle but it's fun anyway.

    hmmm...Probably my music stuff. It's expensive and I can't really justify the expense.

    My DVDs and books.. wanting to get the new Jean Auel book even though it's a crazy price.. should just buy it on Amazon for cheaper.

    I know it varies from person to person, but I don't consider my car or computer to be luxury items. I have to have a computer for school, and I really don't know how I'd manage getting to work and school without my car. We have public transportation here, but it's not great. And starting this summer I'll be commuting to my clinical site for training, which could be in Boston, for Pete's sake.

    I have a crappy little Tracfone that I probably spend $15/month on, so that doesn't count, either.

    Anyway, I'd say I blow the most money on dining out. Hubby and I like ethnic food and cocktails.
