It depends on the sandals and socks in question. I think white ankle socks look fine with basic single strapped sandals

But look hideous with multi-strap sandals like this

I just saw that at a Greyhound station on my recent trip (and no one cares about their appearance travelling Greyhound - and it still looked bad)

I wear flip flops year round here and a lot of guys wear that or sandals. NO ONE who lives here would put on socks with sandals - just the Northerners. If you gotta wear socks hide your feet in shoes.

I used to think so too. Those Nike sandals in the first pic were really popular back in the day and that's how people would wear them and I thought it was fine. But ONLY the Nike sandals. No other sandal would do. But now.....nah. Defeats the purpose of sandals. Just go get a pedicure and call it a day. Yes, men can get them too!

Sometimes when I'm around the house I might still stick my feet in my sandals w/o taking off my sox (like if I need to go outside for a minute or something) but if I decide to wear my sandals that day then I ain't wearing sox with them.

IMO, all sandals are tacky....so socks don't make it much worse from my point of view.

^^^^^Really? Sandals are great in the summer. I would not wear socks with sandals. As someone pointed out. It defeats (no pun intended) the purpose.

I don't always (or even usually) wear socks with sandals, but on the occasion I do, it never feels wrong.

It might be a cultural thing. Younger black men (30 and under) seem more likely to wear socks with their sandals than their white, and other non-black, age counterparts.

That looks like Ocean Drive on SoBe and those guys deff look like tourists. We luv 'em (as long as they're spending money)but they are not in style here.
