| I have been a "card carrying member of the ACLU" since before the first George Bush tried to denigrate it.
It is very much still necessary and will be as long as there are ppl who try to circumvent the First Amendment and other rights guaranteed in the US Constitution.
And, there are always ppl who think things would run more efficiently without all of those rights getting in the way. | |

| I believe it may be a necessary evil. I do have the perception that they lean more on some issues and do have an agenda that seems to be unfair. They seem to jump right away for the cause of what people lable liberal issues but if a conservative issue is at stake even if a constitutional issue is broken they may not be so quick. Just a perception.

| Despite the perception that they only defend unpopular positions and have been accused themselves of being a hate group with a license to practice law, I think in general we are better off with them than without them. | |
