Do you sleep with lights on? Empty
PostSubject: Do you sleep with lights on?   Do you sleep with lights on? EmptySun May 15, 2011 2:03 am

It's funny, as kids it's acceptable to sleep with a night light on if you're afraid of the dark, and when you're old it's acceptable to have a night light on so you can get into the bathroom, but in between you're supposed to sleep in the dark, why? Sure, sometimes it's nice, but I can also see advantanges to keeping the lights on...I'm a heavy sleeper and the lights, and the heat from the overhead lights are likely to wake me up, whereas if it's dark and it's cool, I'm likely to stay asleep and then oversleep.

Also, once again, why not be able to see? One night last week I unplugged the lights in my window and walked around my bed to get in it, and stubbed my toes against the metal frame on the bedstead because I couldn't see it. pissed

So sometimes I keep the lights on, although in all reality it's seldom ever fully dark in my room because if the windows open, the street light will come in, and if there's not that, there is the digital timer light on the VCR which is a lot brighter than you'd think.

I know some people, I guess really light sleepers, would not be able to sleep with the lights on, but me, if I'm tired enough, I can sleep through lights, TV, music, even a tornado siren once, so it doesn't bother me. How about everyone else?

I can't sleep with the lights on. I have a nightlight in the hallway but prefer my room as dark as possible. I sleep with the door shut so the light form the hallway doesn't disturb me. If I wake up in the middle of the night, there's usually enough light from the street for me to find my way to the door. If I could get my room darker, I would, but it would require fancy blinds.

Hell to the nah. I need complete darkness. I can fall asleep with the lights on if I'm tired enough and somewhere other than my bed and I would find something to at least cover my head...........but at home? Nope.

No. Lights are out. I'm like most people whose sleep cycle will be disrupted by light.

Same here, I need darkness to sleep. Altho I do have about half a dozen LED lights in my room that don't penetrate my closed eyelids but when I get up at nite give me enuf light to see.

I have a large piece of cardboard that fits my kitchenette window because the little plastic blinds let light thru. I don't even have a nite lite in the bathroom because in the middle of the nite it is too brite. There is enuf lite comes from outside to see by when my eyes are adjusted to darkness.

When travelling I have one of those sleep masks for dozing in the bus/train seats. Even on a cruise with a cabin with no windows I've had to put a towel on the floor to keep the light from coming under the door.
