This was a great radio play with Agnes Moorehead but I think it was also a terrific movie with Barbara Stanwyck, and not too bad a TV remake in 1989 either. Definitely creepy, especially towards the end. Anybody else seen it?

Don't think I ever saw the remake but I liked the original.

I saw the movie a while back, but I don't think I watched it all the way through and don't remember too much about it! It's a movie that didn't leave a great impression on me. Barbara Stanwyck and Burt Lancaster are two of my favorites though, but this film just didn't work for me.

I don't recall ever seeing the movie but we read the play or script in HS.

Yeah, that was the one. What's funny is when I first saw it, it was advertised as 'a bedridden woman overhears plans for her own destruction', so I figured she knew she was going to be killed, but she didn't find that out until the last few minutes.

Re: Sorry, Wrong Number
It's kind of funny how first, I think it was first anyway, this started out as originally a very short play, and then later it was extended into a full form novella which in fact I found in the back of an Alfred Hitchcock anthology, and the latter is more like the movie whereas the former is more like the radio broadcast.
