| Short of breaking the law, would you disown a relative for doing something you are ethically/morally opposed to? | |

| I did.
My mom insulted my choice of a mate, exhibited a racism of which I was not aware, so I wrote her off - even said I disowned her - and did not communicate with her for a couple of years.
She eventually came around and my wife and I visited her in Missouri, but I will not countenance ppl who are so openly prejudiced that they refuse to accept me or my choices.

| Multiple times. Just because we share DNA strands doesn't mean I have to love or like you. | |

| I suppose I have and vice versa. There was no formal declaration. We just have nothing to do with one another. | |

| I won't disown a relative. I may not associate or deal witht he relative but still recognize him or her as a relative. If one of my relatives was a racist againt a choice of wife I would tell them I disagreed and not be around them as if nothing happened. I would still recognize that person as a relative with everybody and those around me.
You have a great day. Friendly Veteran

| Nah. We're all individuals. Nothing is that serious. Unless you're a serial killer or something. And then I'd act like I just don't know you but wouldn't go out of my way just to say I disown you. | |

| Yes, I would and I have. My son's paternal grandmother is not at all in our lives.
