I don't dread it, but I don't really like to make a big ado about it.

It means I did not take the alternative to getting older. To me it should be a time of private reflection - but unfortunately ppl around me make a deal out of it. (Including forum board and social network snitch bots) blank stare @ you

My birthday is on Valentine's Day, and it was cute when I was a kid, but the older I get, the more lame it seems with how people turn a simple Hallmark-Holiday into another version of Christmas with all the overly-lavish gift giving.

Give me a chocolate cupcake and I'll be happy.

I used to dread them becuase I hated the fact it always meant I was getting older, but then I thought about it and decided it beats the hell out of the alternative.

I'll be halfway to 60 this year and panic has yet to set in over any milestone (30, 40, 50, etc.). At this point I don't think it ever will. Maybe 'cause I think young thoughts and get better looking each day.

I mostly look forward to it. I love the cake and the presents! But it's another reminder that another whole year of my life has passed. It's scary as hell the way time flies, I don't know where it all goes.
