Open Bar Tipping

If you were at an affair and the bar was free, would you expect the bartenders to have tip jars out? Isn't this an imposition on the guests? As a guest, would you expect to be tipping at an open bar?

I wouldn't expect to, but if I saw it it probably wouldn't bother me much. On the other hand, I wouldn't be pressed to tip either. Open bar just means the bartender was paid a salary upfront, and probably a decent one.

I usually put a buck per drink in an open bar. I don't think I have even seen an open bar, or paid bar at an event, that did not have a tip jar out.

I don't make a big deal out of a couple of bucks. No way it's costing me as much as a cash bar.
