As with most things in life, it comes down to the individual person. In my field of work, nursing or human services I have had more female bosses than male - some good, some real bitches. (Some real bitches that I got along with and liked).
I probably had a bigger ratio of male bosses that I did not care for, but some we really bonded and I hated leaving. (Some I took that job and shoved it).

Female bosses are easier to tolerate, even if they're bitches. A jackass male boss is much much worse.

In general, I'd rather have a male boss honestly. The women superiors that I've come in contact with.....the less said about them, the better. Granted, I've had one or two cool ones so I know it definitely depends on the person.

Male supervisors and managers are easier to get along with, because they tend to give you a task and leave you alone. Female managers will pester you about how it's coming along and add more shit to your plate.

In my line of work, the male bosses are usually easier to get along with but in other places, I'd say female bosses

I will take a cool male superior over a cool female superior. When it comes to those arrogant, demanding, or otherwise impossible-to-deal-with supervisors…however…then I prefer a woman. A-hole male bosses are basically posturing bullies on an ego trip and power binge. It becomes too much of a test of will to not walk out.
