Is Cheerleading a Sport

There's a new push to consider cheerleading a sport. Advocates say it has evolved from a support to other athletes to its own unique sport. Do you agree?

Yes, I would say so.

yes i do.. a friend of mine's daughter is into cheerleading and won the state championship, and will be attending nationals in florida... and the skills these girls have is crazy..she's about 12/13 years.

Does it involve strenuous physical activity and a set of boundaries? Then yes, it's a sport.

I think competitive cheerleading is crazy awesome.

Legally it's not but it sure as hell is. My daughter did it.

Cheaps, my friend's daughter does it too and they went to Nationals in Fl. last year. Not sure about this year or not. Last year, I thought it was cool that they had feeds of the comps online for people to see.

Ya, you will probably be able to see the days events in the evening. I remember watching Jordan's performance online the night of the Saturday's event. I don't think it is live, but rather a few hours delayed. It is just nuts how talented these girls are. Makes me embarrassed to bring up my cheerleading days, as we never did anything remotely that awesome!

Thats cool, but i'm really only interested in watching her group perform.

I think there is a search option so you can find the team you want to see.

I don't know. I guess. I know it's competitive, but I don't know how many cheerleading games there are.

Marc, it's just as much a sport as gymnastics. They have plenty of local tournaments (games) in addition to the regional and national. Add to that the high risk of injury. Trust me, it's a sport.
