| I forgot where, but one time I was at another board and the term "Redneck" was used, and somebody made a big stick about how it was an insult to white people and how that word shouldn't be used any more than the n-word. I totally disagreed because the former doesn't have the same legacy of brutality and oppression that the latter has. Just seemed like some anal retentive insecure person wanting to turn tables.
But what do you think anyway, is the word "Redneck" one that is offensive to use? | |

| No it isn't, Jeff Foxworthy capitalized on it and it's a high compliment to some of the middle class blue collar people: If you dog AND wallet are both on a chain (  ) If you've ever mown the lawn and found a car If your mother can tell the state trooper to kiss her ass without taking the Malboro out of her mouth If you work without a shirt on and so does your husband, If you wear a strapless dress with a bra that isn't, If you've ever looked at a can of frozen orange juice for an hour because it said 'concentrate' If you think NSYNC is where your dirty dishes are, and the list just goes on and on. | |

I agree with you. I've seen white people laugh when being called a redneck. And it can be quite a literal term too. | |
