That is what I call those people, who don't know, and have never heard of anything, unless it touches their day-to-day life.

Know what I mean? Do these people annoy you, not annoy you, or do you envy them sometimes? Are they stupid, or do they just not consider anything their business unless it has something to do with them?

I suppose these are the kind of people who don't know who the Vice President is, or have never heard of The Czech Republic.

Yes its very annoying and an appropriate name. I have one such person in my life like this and sometimes you really have to wonder if life might be much better in the Twilight Zone.

yeah..unfortunately.

Unless they're in the business I don't expect them to be overflowing with information but people can at least have some kind of working knowledge about what's going on in the world.

People who are a little too naive, hesitant and unknowing for their age....yeah I work with several.

My annoyance is directly proportional with the degree of explanation I have to give them regarding the topic at hand.

"I see President Obama and John Boehner recently played golf together."

"John who?"

Of couse, they're just as entitled to be annoyed with me because I don't know who was just voted off some reality show.

Hmmmm, somebody must've bumped with mine cuz it didn't get up.


I live next door to a whole house of bubble kids, they are going to go into the world one day with absolutely NO idea or comprehension about anything. When the oldest boy was 13, this was how great his teachers did with him, he thought George Washington was George Bush and that Bush was the first president, he was not aware we have a history of 230 years of presidency. The girl is 16 and had NEVER heard of a voodoo doll, what the hell? Didn't we all try to mkae those as kids and want them to work when they were full of pins?

Oh yeah, he's still in school, or will be in the fall...and the same teachers listened to him read out loud every day, in the 7th grade, on a 3rd grade level, they HAD to hear him getting every other word wrong, and they never corrected him on it, they never worked with him, they just told him he was getting it right and let it go at that. I think I brought up a while back some of the extent of what the schools here are or rather are NOT doing, it's...to be nice about it, it becomes more obvious why my mother chose to homeschool us.

Uh-huh. Several folks I know need to touch a stove to know what hot feels like. I never envy anyone who is so oblivious that reality is a near foreign concept; I just shake my head and dismiss it.

It's the world we live in. Ignorance never goes out of style.
