I saw the show on Broadway in the early 70s and the movie was almost as good. I love the music wither way. Once again though, they cast a blond, blue eyed Jesus.

I remember the box cover at the video store. Seemed like a big, dramatic, extravagant production. Produced by Robert Stigwood, it had to be. I never saw it, but I might look into it now that you mention it.

It's actually pretty bare bones. It was filmed in the Israeli desert among actual ruins.
