    Hi all,

I was wondering if there was any old movie fans in here like I am? I don't consider "Who's That Girl?" to be an old movie - I'm talking about films from the '30's, '40's and '50's. Any fans?

I luv classic movies. TMC and AMC (even though they don't play as many "classics" these days) are my favorite movie networks.

Some of my favorite classic movies are

    We're No Angels
    Imitation of Life
    All About Eve
    Sunset Boulevard
    Arsenic and Old Lace
    To Kill a Mocking Bird
    Some Like It Hot

    Great thread!!!

I love old movies, to name a few:

    Great Expectations
    Wuthering Heights
    The Al Jolson Story
    The Wizard of Oz
    Jezebel
    Caged
    A Night to Remember
    3 Faces of Eve
    Mildred Pierce
    Gone With the Wind
    West Side Story
    All about Eve
    Dark Victory
    Imitation of Life
    Backstreet

I love the Little Rascals too! I also like some B-Bomb horror movies from the 50's like Attack of the 50ft woman, Queen of Outer Space, The Thing, It the terror from beyond space (Alien was based on this movie) and many others.

I have a great great uncle that I watch old movies with when I have the time, I have learned a lot about Old Hollywood from him since he is a big movie buff.

I never tried to cloak my blackness like she did (I can't imagine treating my dad as bad as she did her mom), but like the main character I am biracial, so I guess in that regard I can somewhat relate and imagine what times must have been like back in the racially aware 1930s (original) or 1950s (remake.)

Thats the key, the times were what they were, very sad indeed, I can't even imagine what it must have been like. She was very cruel to her mother and through it all, her mother still loved and cared much about her.

Hey that's cool, so there are quite a few fans of the old classic movies. I also am a fan of "Some Like It Hot", "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Psycho" like a couple of posters mentioned above. I also like:

    Top Hat
    From Here to Eternity
    Sabrina
    Stalag 17
    It Happened One Night
    Dial 'M' for Murder
    The African Queen
    The Caine Mutiny
    Gone with the Wind

Just to name a few! cheers (rah) cheers (rah) cheers (rah)

I LOVE old movies, there's just no other film like them, they're the best.

I have a LONG list of favorites in that regard:

The Bat, all three versions from 1926, 1930 and 1959
    House on Haunted Hill
    The Bat
    Invaders from Mars
You Can't Take it With You
    Harvey
    Rear Window
The Wizard of Oz: 1925 version, not 1939
The Day the Earth Stood Still
    Modern Times
    Our Hospitality
    The Devil Doll
    Freaks
    The Nanny
Abbott and Costello Meet the Killer, Boris Karloff
    Hold that Ghost!
Anything with the East Side Kids/Bowery Boys
    Tarantula
    The Thing From Another World
    The Kid
    The Rains Came
Suddenly (a great underrated Frank Sinatra movie I'd recommend to everybody)
    Double Indemnity
    The Postman Always Rings Twice
    Night of the Hunter
    The Tingler
    The Mad Magician
    Holiday
    Bringing up Baby
    Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
    Mr. Deeds Goes to Town
    Rope
    The Trouble with Harry
    Nosferatu
    The Headless Horseman
    Sherlock Jr.
    Dr. Jack
It's a Gift (W.C. Fields, another one I'd recommend to everybody, that's about THE funniest movie I've ever seen)
    Rebel Without a Cause
    Blackboard Jungle
    Anatomy of a Murder
    East of Eden
    The Member of the Wedding
    Shadow of a Doubt
    Hell's Kitchen
The Man Who Knew Too Much (1933 with Peter Lorre, not James Stewart)
The Poor Little Rich Girl (1917 with Mary Pickford, not 1936 with Shirley Temple)

I just LOVE the old movies, there's something great to most of them. It's funny that back then when they didn't have as much money or effects as they do today, they tried harder to give you more entertainment for your money's worth.

I'm a fan of movies period. Love the Golden Age of Hollywood and even the silent era. I know so many kids can't take B & W let alone no dialog. I used to just love silent comedies but grew to appreciate silent dramas as well. Not just for historical import or techniques but as films in and of themselves. They were very un-p.c. back then but in a way that's refreshingly honest. See some Lon Chaney Sr. films and you'll see some of the best acting put to film.
