Yes its quite common here in NY in all the bakeries. If not made correctly it can be pretty bad. Its very rich. My sister makes it homemade once in awhile.

I've only had it when someone orders it dining out and I'm offered a taste. Not bad. LOL, reminds me of the scene in Sleepless In Seatle between Tom Hanks and Rob Reiner
