I'm sure everybody caught this little gem today. The judge found Casey guilty on 4 counts of lying to police and gave her the max, 4 years, she gets 3 years time served already, and 1 year left but they decide she needs time off for good behavior so that 1 year is taken down to 6 days and the bitch walks on Wednesday. It would seem the law, or the Florida branch of it anyway, really doesn't care about dead kids if murdering your child only gets you a week in jail.

Fortunately more trouble awaits Casey when she gets out, starting with a $4000 fine Miss Never Had a Job has to pay for the 4 counts...and then the prosecutor is planning to stick her with the bill of how much money was spent on the investigation conducted to find Caylee in 2008 when everyone thought she was alive, which could run into the hundreds of thousands.

And then, she came up with a false name of a non-existent nanny, a Zaneida Gonzales or something, REAL woman Casey never met, she got fired, lost her car and apartment because people thought she was a kidnapper, well she'll have plenty of grounds to sue when Casey gets out I'm sure.

And of course just how she's going to pay all the fines and fees is anybody's guess because as everybody pointed out, who's going to hire her, except maybe her lawyer to babysit his kids?

Well, she got the max the judge could give her. It just works out that it won't be anything close to four years. While I don't understand how the jury found her innocent of all the charges, but for lying, it is time for us all to accept that is the way it went. The state did not prove their case to the jury.

Super, this isn't directed at you at all...this is a message board and by design, we are all here to discuss things, so what better than something that has been front page news for such a long time. What I am completely disgusted by is women, moms especially, who are acting like they were Caylee's aunt. My friend has two young boys and was at a play group Tuesday afternoon, where a couple women were actually crying about this.

There are many more child murder cases that get zero attention, yet this has captivated a nation.

It's fairly common for credit to be given for time served. So she came close to the max sentence all things considered. It has to be remembered that she was found not guilty whether or not it was the appropriate verdict. It was what they jury decided. Keeping it in context, she wouldn't be expected to serve an additional 4 years from now. So it's really no surprise.

No but ONE YEAR should not suddenly become 6 days. Exactly WHO had the idea prisoners should get time off for good behavior? I have never heard of a statistic finding most model prisoners are model citizens when released back into society.

It's not just about good behavior. It is time served. Since she was found innocent of the other charges, she got credit for time served awaiting trial.

Unfortunately, due to over-crowding, time off for good behavior is a necessity. Plus it works as a motivator for those incarcerated to behave.

Except that some people find the solution to the overcrowding problem to be keep in all the junkies and dealers and let the murderers and rapists go because they're not a threat or something. Why don't they let all the misdeameanor cases out and keep the felonies shut away where they belong? The guy who shot the 4 cops execution style at Denny's was doing a life sentence for violent crimes but Mike Huckabee decided he deserved another chance because he was young, he took that second chance and killed four cops.

Honestly, I don't know the statistics on good behavior and the average sentence reductions per type of crime. But it isn't as if murderers are getting out in 12 months. The benefits of good behavior being awarded outweigh the costs.

The Huckabee pardon is not the norm. I don't agree with him letting the guy out, given the nature of his violent crimes, and his nearly 100 year sentence, but that is another topic.

Except in the examples that you site, convicted rapists and murders are being released. Like it or not, the only thing she was found guilty of was lying. Basically the same thing as Martha Stewart. I'm in no way saying that what M.S. was put on trial for is the same as what C.A. was put on trial for but as far as being guilty in the eyes of the law, they are.
