I have seen the 1950's version and John Carpenter's version. I can't imagine that this one is going to top John Carpenter's (its one of my all time fave horror flicks) but I will go see it. Thanks Chris I didn't know about this.

I don't consider it a remake. As far as I know this is supposed to show what happened before John Carpenter's version. It could still suck but

If that is so then it should focus more on the Swedish guys that found the Thing first?

IIRC they were Norwegian but regardless. Looks to me that's what they do. The trailer shows them discovering the Thing in a block of ice.

- In Carpenter's version it was already out and had taken one of the dogs. That's how it was brought back to the American compound.

Yes I saw Carpenter's version a hundred times. In the original they brought it back in the block of ice.

The original is one of my favorite movies, I've been planning to see this one when it comes out.
