Marc asked about how likely you are to satisfy, or give in to, something that you crave. On the flip side, let me ask this: when you are tempted to have something that is completely within your grasp, but you know isn't good for you – or necessary for you to have at that moment – how easily can you not indulge?

My willpower is called up in the grocery store, where you will find me arguing in the aisles and usually NOT buying some fattening chocolate item.
Then, when I get home and have a craving, it is not available to eat. If it were, it would be history and my diet shot to hell. This is why I hated when co-workers would get me those big bars of European Chocolate as gifts. I think they finally stopped because I never took it home and shared (pushed) it with co-workers in the office.

I have a 50/50 battle with that. Usually, if I'm craving something and it's not in reach, I would be too lazy to go get it so I won't have it. I've walked out of stores not buying something I want because I didn't need it, but I have also gone clear across town to get what I wanted. It depends on the circumstances.

In most cases I'm better off giving in or that crave will rage for days. Occasionally I'll resist but the agony isn't worth battling every time.
