On a certain civil right issues I have seen a Republican Senator here in Florida more supportive than the Democratic Senator.
It was a matter of the Dem (Bob Graham) being more a politician than a leader and the Rep (Connie Mack) truly being in support of the First Amendment rights of 2 Live Crew.
Just one anecdotal case.

We have PLENTY of liberal Republicans. Some are as bad as Democrats. I am sure a few scattered "conservative" Democrats exist, but they are so few and far between. The Democratic party has gone so far to the left and out of the realm of common sense that the "conservative" Democrats are now those who are just moderately liberal.

I consider these people to largely be "moderates."
