I wouldn't like to dine alone, I'd take the food to go and eat at my house.

In a restaurant no but in a diner or a Wendy's type place yes.

Before I was married, I always went in alone. Never felt uncomfortable. I would order, and take out a notebook and sit for a few hours and write. I never noticed others around me.

I wouldn't dine anywhere fancy alone. I will dine alone if I have a book or newspaper but I don't like to.

I'm not above such a thing, but I would rather not eat alone in a more conservative sit down restaurant. If it's some fast food place or diner, I wouldn't so much mind.
