It wasn't anything material. It was someone special to me that remembered my birthday. That meant a lot to me at the time. Even to this day, if I don't receive anything on my birthday. Happy Birthday suits me just fine.

I guess the most important birthday present I ever received was in 1944 when mom squeezed me out into the air. Can't beat that. (Well, back then someone probably beat my butt while holding me upside down)

When I was 16 years old my Mama gave me a gold St. Anthony's medal which I cherish.
