Those & the ones who don't oppose Obama on the actual issues. Just, yeah...uh...the black guy. And believe me, they exist. Interviews, speeches & debates are secondary. The real deciding factor in this election is going to come down to voter turnout imo. Will the people who won't vote for Obama under any circumstances be willing to hold their nose & pull the lever for a man they really don't like either.

I didn't watch the debates, but I have seen this same thot expressed on both facebook and the Hip Forums that ppl are disappointed in Obama's performance, that he did not put up much of a fight.

He should have pressed harder on just HOW Romney intended to accomplish his claims. He was just...apathetic isn't really the word but it's close. And Jim Lehrer absolutely lost control of it. Next time they need a no bullshit moderator to handle it. Although last night some people were suggesting FactCheck & the use of shock collars. Certainly would have at least made it entertaining.

I watched some of it when I came home from class last night. I don't think either candidate did or said anything strong enough to sway voters who knew who they wanted to vote for before the debate. I will say the Obama dropped the ball somewhat on this first debate. I don't think as many people are going to watch the next two as they did this first one. You still have a month before the election. I will assume closer to then, that's when Obama will really start to pounce. At least I hope so. This election is going to be determined by voter turnout. All these debates and campaigning is secondary.

Romney won in terms of style. He came, obviously, ready to brawl…however, he really didn't say much. All he did was doublespeak, lie, flip flop and smirk. Even if he "won" this debate, I'd have a hard time believing that he swayed a significant amount of voters in his favor. Kerry won his debates against Bush too, and we all know how much that ultimately didn't matter.
That being said, I was quite disappointed with Obama's performance. While I feel he had more substance in what he was talking about, I was still near mortified by how much he paused, stuttered and said "Uh…" all evening.

Oh, and Jim Lehrer was an absolutely terrible moderator. He damn near lost control over the whole spectacle and let both Obama and Romney talk over him every time he attempted to say cut.

Obama seemed to actually speak over the heads of most right wingers (that was a mistake). He always says um a lot while he thinks of the proper answers.
Romney flip flops and sounds good but keep in mind he is trying to be all things to all men, and will say what ever he thinks folks will believe.

That's not unusual but then again it depends on the integrity of the poll. It's not the only debate before the election so hopefully next time the moderator will have better control & people will pay more attention & realize Mitt did a lot of talking but didn't really say anything. We all know what needs to be done. Now HOW do we realistically make that happen? The rest need to comprehend the idea that the "White House" shouldn't be taken so literally.
