    Getting Dirty Empty Getting Dirty

Post by Tony Marino Tue Oct 16, 2012 11:44 am

I hate getting dirt on my hands. I'll get muddy and let my hands get dirty as hell, but as soon as I can, I'm washing it off. I hate when mud starts to dry on my hands, cause it dries the skin out it seems. I don't mind getting dirty, but I hate staying dirty. I gotta clean up fast lol

If you get some muck on you, how long do you wait to clean it up? How does it make you feel?

I have done some hot sweaty dusty work, like cleaning out barns or storage sheds, which means the dust sticks to you. I can go the whole day like that but as soon as I get home, it's in the shower.

When I was a young man working on an oil rig, I got saturated with various things like drilling mud & pipe compound that you just lived with for the day. Again in the tub and clothes were stained forever, but who cared - they were just getting the same treatment again.

The nastiest job I have ever done was cleaning out the chicken pen, leaves one feeling crawly. So yeah it is get a bath and wash the hair as soon as it is finished. Mud washes off quickly because you are right it is very drying and my skin is dry anyway but believe me it is cleaner than some things you can get your hands into.

Pretty much this, which is why I hate working in the garden or the yard, my mom likes it and thinks everybody does.

If ever I get drenched in dirt or grime, as soon as I get in the vicinity of a sink I'm scrubbing myself off. I'm a bit of a germ freak. I practically rush back in the house after taking the trash out so I can wash my hands.

I think the thing that irks me most is getting dirt under my nails.

A biker (motorcycle) once told me how to get my nails clean after working on the bike. Shampoo your hair. Blue Cool

Years ago I had a summer job at a printing company running a small press. No matter how hard I tried my hands were covered in ink by the end of the day. Washing that evening's dishes, pots and pans cleaned them up very well.

Literally muddy dirty hands don't bug me (due to moto) like dusty hands do. Shopping at a resale shop and touching dusty items makes me totally need to scrub up. But riding all day in the dirt is all good in my book.

I keep baby wipes and hand sanitizer in the car for that reason. After each yard sale if I touched anything I use one or the other. Nothing (now) is ickier to me than to touch something and find it is sticky! Once in a while I touch something in the grocery store that turns out to be sticky, so the hand sanitizer in my purse takes care of that.
