For me it was the player. Some friends wanted to get me a present for watching their cats & house while they were away so they bought and hooked up a DVD player to my TV. I remember going to the neighborhood Blockbuster to get a DVD to play. Found a Conan the Barbarian two-sided disk with both Conan movies on it.
Still have it along with about 600 other DVDs now.

I have avoided black Friday since in the past 2 years Canadian stores have decided to have it too, gotta follow the US lead ya know. Our Thanksgiving is in October. Seems to me we should then have black Tuesday that's about the same time I start Xmas shopping. Considering our dollar is now at par or bit above par we still pay much more for things so the stores black Friday (when they start to make a profit) should be much earlier.

I got a great deal on my new bedroom set that I bought on Friday. Saved $400. Browsed around in a few stores....didn't buy anything. I'm looking for a new shower head and a rug though.
