I really like the dress! It may have been at a cheap price, but that doesn't mean it's not chic! But I do have to agree with you on the shoes and actually the belt too, for that matter. Maybe a black belt and black heels would've been better, though it's not quite as big of a statement as Mrs. Obama made!

Agreed. If not for the belt and shoes, the outfit would be fine.

The dress is fine. I don't know why people think something has to cost hundreds or thousands to be fashionable. Her accessorizing could use some work.

I mean seriously, I honestly am not looking at what she wears. Nice dress, not hideous, glad she is living reasonably, and that's about it? I really am not paying attention to what she wears.

I think the dress looks fine but my sense of taste is in my mouth. But ah, does it look like The First Lady and Matt Lauer are close to playing footsie?

I like the dress but I agree about the belt and shoes. No problem with her buying the kind of dress most of us would be able to afford. In fact, I'd rather see her in a dress like that than one that cost several hundred dollars.

I agree. I like that in these hard times our First Lady is more cautious on the high dollar ensembles.

8 ppl chimed in on this thread - 6 women and 2 men. All the women had some probs with the way Michelle was dressed, as if it was important or something.
I never woulda noticed.
Probably the reason I didn't notice is because I went thru the "modern" styles of the '50s and the garrish styles of the '60s. It all sorta blurs but I think she may be doing retro here.
AND, she's a black woman. They can get away with color combinations that white women can't. Somehow brown skin mutes multi bright colors.
OH, my opinion? I'm glad I'm a guy.
I have black shoes, dark blue jacket, dark blue slacks with a light blue shirt and several blue ties when I have to dress up. It never varies - it is the only dress up outfit I have.
However, now I have to wonder if women dis me when they see me. (Like I would care - I'm a guy)

Shale, I think the lady's issue was with her accessories, not the dress. But again...I'm not known for my fashion sense.

It's not even her accessories. It's the colors. She ain't matching. Red heels would've made all the difference. Then this wouldn't even be a discussion.

I think everyone is really on the same page here at least mostly. The dress it self looks fine but the shoes and belt don't go with it because of the clashing colors.

I think so too. If she had added a blue scarf it would have been like a bag of M&M's exploded. It's just too much.
