Anyone here have them? Ever see one that you just couldn't figure out or thought, "What the hell were they thinking?" On a fairly regular basis, I encounter a blue VW Beetle the tags that read "Dayzbug". OK. I certainly get that. But there's another car with "Kuntle" plates. I shit you not. At least it's always a man behind the wheel.

I wouldn't bother with them. I don't need for my car to stand out like that. What if I run somebody over and want to flee the scene?

I occasionally see them here where I live. One of my friends had a personalized/vanity plate years ago when she used to drive an orange car, the plate was related to the color of the car. I personally wouldn't get a plat like that for different reasons and there is a good chance that the personalization you want for a plate has already been taken by another person.

There is a lady that lives by here and she has a mini van with "1 ht mama"...um, yeah...

We were actually just talking about this because a lot of people have special plates for our state's football team. And when we were out and about I saw so many of those that were personalized. That is nuts...they first pay for the special football plate, and then the personalized lettering/numbering. It is expensive enough as it is to renew every year, why somebody wants to add to it, I don't understand. My uncle has "mr coffee". (I think "coffee" is shortened somehow, but can't recall) He gets a kick out of it, and has had it for many years. So, I guess, whatever floats your boat. I would never do it though.

Sometimes I see a plate and can't quite decide if it's intentional or a random coincidence when three of the letters happen to spell a word.

IMO personalized plates are tacky and I wouldn't like the kind of direct attention they would add to my car.

I would not waste my money on them. Just like the new New York plates, they want almost 200 bucks if you want the new colors, I said screw it nothing wrong with my liberty plates.

Uh-oh. LOL! My plates are personalized. I have the new ones and I put the same moniker that I've had for many years.

I used to just park on the street in the 80's but when I got out of college, I treated myself and bought a parking spot in an apartment building nearby. I paid $5000 for it in 1989.

Ah thats great now you don't have to worry about being plowed in during snowstorms or that someone is going to smash into you while trying to park behind you or in front of you.

Yep. Parking spaces in Manhattan cost well over 100 or even 200 thousand in 2011.

I can imagine. I'm so spoiled now. Living out in Queens, I don't have to deal with alternate side parking and there is always parking in my neighborhood. People can come and visit me without worrying about finding a parking spot. And it's free. LOL, I so am not going back to having to pay or deal with alternate side.

Ditto. Just give me the regular plates. The fancy stuff isn't at all necessary for me. Especially since every year the cost of insurance, registration and tab renewal tends to go up.

I personally think they are stupid (though I admit that I'm often amused by them). I would never have vanity plates first and foremost because I don't want to be identified by my vehicle so easily, nor do I want to make myself a target for either. I think the funniest vanity plate I've seen so far has been "NGGA PLZ".

It's a wonder that got by the Plate Censors. We have them here in Florida. There was a big issue about a guy wanting JEWBAN on his plate. The good ol boys in Tallahassee thot it was derogative of Jews. They didn't know the local term for Cuban Jews here in S. Florida.

The closest I ever got was ENJ69Y, which almost looked like ENJOY 69. It just happened when I was getting a plate for my last VW Beetle which was a 69. The plates were in the high 50s when I got to the counter but the attendent dug out the 69 for me, which was in her stack.

Hmmm, if people know what car you drive, won't they recognize your vehicle anyway? My other question is, a target for what. I've had my same plate name since the 80's and I've never had one issue.

Not necessarily. In any case, if you have your name, career, faith, sports team and motto all over your car, they'd probably figure it out quickly.

I know a guy who's been smoking weed in the military for the last 4 years. I wouldn't recommend it thogh! Just sayin, I'm not that vein. I'd rather keep as low a profile on the highway as possible. I'm already black!
