    I had taken out a plethora of books from the library at my college. And I'm graduating in a few weeks, but I REALLY messed up and forgot to bring them back.

    Now I've amounted $500 in library fines, and I have no idea what I'm going to do. I have 80 dollars to my name.

    That sucks. If it was at the public library they'd probably be happy just to get the books back but your college kind of has you by the short hairs assuming you want your diploma. Have you spoken to the admin about trying to settle?

    I would talk to them as soon as possible & try to work something out. I agree. That sucks. Hope they're willing to work with you. Good luck.

    Okay, so, update!

    ...I think the fees are replacement fees. I returned them all about an hour after returning them. And one of the books in that batch was taken off of the bill. So now it's $450.

    I'm thinking maybe the fees are eliminated once all the books get processed.

    Maybe?

    They'd never take me alive. On the plus side, if they ever reinstate the draft, the kid will probably have to go sit on the Group W bench with the mother rapers...father stabbers...father rapers! And litterbugs.
