I think it would have to be September 11. I remember seeing the first tower smoking & the "possibility that a small plane had hit it". Watched it from the time they were speculating whether it had been an accident or if the pilot might have committed suicide all the way to where it became very clear.

9/11 definitely. I know people who died in that tragedy and when it happened, I couldn't get ahold of my father who worked down there for hours. Imagine what a wreck I was.

9/11 is the biggest. MLK & RFK assasinations. I was too young to remember JFK. The riots of '67. Watergate. Iran taking our people hostage. The gas crisis of '73.

9/11 was a big one but I think the more individualized deaths hit me the hardest, Princess Diana, Lisa Lopes, and Michael Jackson.
