    A friend (and former co-worker) of mine was let go from the job three months ago. According to him, he has only barely looked for new employment and in the meantime is enjoying the time off. Personally, I think I'd be bored (not to mention homeless) having no job, but he's apparently liking being able to stay up and out all night, while sleeping all day.

    Have you ever enjoyed your downtime in between jobs?

    i enjoyed unemployment for a few months..back in 2003, but little did i know company i worked for had i think 90 days to challeng it, they did, and they won. so i had to pay back all money received back to the state.. sucked ass!!!

    Back when I was young and carefree, I would quit a job and go on the road for months. But this was my choice and living off of savings - which go a long way if you aren't paying rent, or living on a 3rd world economy.

    However, I have never enjoyed being unemployed when I was needing a job and a couple times when I couldn't land one in a month I started getting antsy.

    My daughter was let go over a year ago from the Miami-Dade Public Schools where she was a teacher. This is getting ruf as we look at indicators that this 'recession' is turning into a depression. My daughter has been working on her masters (to avoid her student loans from coming due). Their house is in foreclosure so she will likely be moving (so many here in foreclosure that they haven't evicted her yet). I am giving some financial relief, stuck in a job that gets more dreadful each day but have to stay here because there are no other options. I would not enjoy unemployment.

    Can't say that I didn't. When I was unemployed....I was living with my mother and basically had no bills. And daddy would give me money anyway.

    I have, until my bank account was empty. Strangely enough then it becomes a little unfun.
