This is where I become the chamber's radical, I don't believe in sports. Not school sports anyway, lawn sports just for fun and exercise, that's fine but I am in no favor of this school team-more-important-than-learning-harrass-the-public-with-100-bake-sales-and-car-washes-for-new-uniforms-and-equipment stuff.
I don't see much good that comes out of it, aside from all the related injuries the kids get, then there's the other side of it where the athletes can get away with murder because they're a top player. I don't know about where everyone else is but here it was only decided a couple years ago that MAYBE if the athletes are failing more than 4 classes in one semester they shouldn't be allowed to play. What the hell? If it was any other student failing 4 classes they'd be like that,
But because you can throw a ball, you don't have to know your head from a hole in the ground, somebody else can just do the work for you or you can just get passed anyway. And then what happens when they rip their knee and have outlived their usefulness? Nobody thinks about that when they decide athletes are the gods of the school.
