No, but several of us watch the neighborhood like hawks. And there are usually a few people around during the day, my husband included. What's unique about our particular neighborhood is that we have a surprising lot of armed homeowners willing to use what they have. I would not be against hosting an official Neighborhood Watch.

That's the best kind of neighborhood watch to have!

*Knock on wood* we haven't need one because of crime. I live in a fairly large complex that has had a fairly high turnover rate in the last 5 years or so which would make it tough to have one, I think.

my neighborhood turned into chaos one night cause a bunch of teens who didnt belong on my dead end street started harassing people. My neighbors wanted to put up a toll gate at the top of the street--- residents and guests only! They were serious too... it was a public street, but they wanted to claim it. Never happened, but like bluesmama said, we had guns.

The worst times we've had in our street (which are actually two culdesacs adjoined together)was with one family living here. What a nightmare.
One son was an active gang member and spent some time in prison, another son raped someone and spent time in prison, and they had rotweilers used for protection that always broke loose. One day one of the dogs chased after a pregnant neighbor who dodged into her car to escape it, and that's just one example. And there have been big drug busts.
Don't know where the boys are but their dad is in prison now (drugs) and he will be deported after serving time.
I think the family knew that they were being scruitinized, so other than the big problem with their dogs we had no other direct problems from them. But we did not trust them!

My street did have a few incidents, but my police force goes way overboard. One day the swat team in an armored people mover tank looking thing came down the street and surrounded the house of an 90yr old woman. The mailman said she was screaming that she had a gun and was going to shoot him. He got scared, called the cops and they overreacted. Turned out that she was getting dementia and thought the mailman was breaking into the house and tried to scare him!
On another occasion, a known drug dealer who married a woman who spent her whole life on the street, was arrested. He had a woman on his property in the back of his big rig, and a pit bull. The cops supposedly watched this man for 6mos, then claimed that he held the woman hostage and was using her for sex. They arrested everyone, turned out she was a prostitute and he was giving her drugs to stay. People on the street started talking about how he broke into their house and stole an Xbox and other stuff. When i pressed tho, it turned out that he stole only from the houses where people owed him money, and never sold to kids. not that im defending a drug dealer, but my response to them was "if you dont want problems with drug dealers, dont buy drugs!"

There is, but I'm not a member. I don't know, those things just seem like nosy busy bodies, minding each others business more than they should (or pretending to.) I think any decent neighbor will call the police if they look out the window and see someone breaking into the house across the street.
