Do you think bigamy is a serious enough crime to warrant a prison sentence?

Umm, I dunno. Perhaps a fine would be better.

I don't know how wide spread the crime is but sometimes a law needs some teeth.

More so than it was to send teenagers downloading Napster to jail.

Re: Should bigamists go to prison?
So you will have two families without support?
Ppl never realize that when a family man is sent to prison it impacts on his family financially as well as psychologically. I had a bro-in-law spent six years in prison. Coulda been a work release kinda sentence - he's a good man. But, the state (our taxes) supported him for those six years at much cost and we had to help support his family. Who won in that case?

No, I don't think so, unless they already have a criminal history that includes fraud. It's definitely a criminal offense that should leave a permanent splotch on their record, and they should be fined up the wazoo though.

You make it sound like a victimless crime. It's not. And who says it's just two families?
There are bigamists out there deceiving multiple families. Some of them deserve to go to prison.
