Exactly what IS the point in having a goldfish for a pet? Some pet, you can't play with it, you can't teach it any tricks, you can't walk it, and the only thing you get to see it do is swim around its bowl.

I always thought they were useless too unless you have a whole tank full of fish whats the sense in having a lone goldfish as a pet.

I received a fish for my birthday a long time ago, I was like, "Um thanks." I can't really remember how long I kept it before it died. I could see my forgetful ass forgetting to feed it or something.

I had goldfish as a kid. You basically have to make sure they're fed and the bowl is clean....you take care of them like you would any other pet. Any 'pet' that I bring in this house would be a fish. I want to get an aquarium. I don't do dogs, cats, turtles, or any of that.
