Martin McCann, Derek Jacobi and Ophelia Lovibond have been named as new cast members on Irish/Italian mini-series ‘Titanic – Blood and Steel’.
Northern Irish actor Martin McCann (Killing Bono, The Pacific) has joined the cast of the 12x1 hour miniseries ‘Titanic – Blood and Steel’, previously known as ‘Titanic: Untold Story of How it All Began’. McCann will be joined on set by fellow Northern Irish actor Billy Carter (Fair City, I Fought the Law). Other cast to star in the tale of the Titanic Prequel include Derek Jacobi (Gladiator, The King’s Speech), Ophelia Lovibond (No Strings Attached), Massimo Ghini (Raccontami, Tutta la vita davanti), Branwell Donaghey (The Crimson Petal and the White) and Kevin Zegers (Dawn of the Dead).
Chris Noth (Sex and the City, The Good Wife) and Neve Campbell (Scream, Wild Things) are also reportedly in talks to join the cast of the DeAngelis Group production. ‘Titanic – Blood and Steel’ is being co-produced by Paul Myler (co-producer, In America) for Irish company Epos films and is being directed by IFTA winning Irish helmer Ciaran Donnelly (Camelot, The Tudors). The show is executive produced by Guido De Angelis of the DeAngelis Group.
Filming on the series begins this week in Serbia and will film in Ireland later this year. The story focuses on the designing and building of the infamous ship before the fateful voyage. Based on an idea by Fabrizio del Noce, the series was written by Matthe Faulk, Mark Skeet, and Stefano Voltaggio.
