I wouldn't consider it a compliment. The one woman was clearly looking to give her baby a name that was unique and would stand out; the second woman taking advantage of her later pregnancy and snatching the name is tacky. No one has legal claim to a given name, so she had every right to do that, but it was still tasteless and uncouth on her part.

I'm with Nhaiyel that it was tacky. What she did was show a complete lack of respect for her friend. It would be one thing if the first women had already had her child and the one who took the name also used it for her child but to take it like that is rude and uncouth.

Lack of taste. That's why I wouldn't tell anyone what I would name my baby until it gets here.
