    Have you ever been involved with someone who you were so sure your family wouldn't approve of that chose to hide the relationship?

    I've been pretty open with my relationships. But, I found out my mom believed that Jim was my 'roommate' for five years and three different cities. You don't need to hide things when denial is so convenient.

    I couldn't hide that my wife was black - and my mom reacted badly to that at first. Everyone in my family knew but I did not tell my aging grandmother in Mississippi - figuring why upset her since Brenda and I would not be traveling together to Mississippi.
