I just can't get my head around this no matter how I look at it. Today you can find information on anything at just about any time. It's not like 50 years ago when people didn't know anything about a lot of subjects and it was just guessing and gossip and all that, this is the age of the information superhighway. You can find facts on anything, including the reality of what drugs can do to people.

We see the faces of people who in a couple of years went from nice looking to, death ran them over and backed up and tried again, and everybody KNOWS drugs are addictive and any addiction is a costly one, money wise and otherwise...so, for anybody who has not yet started using meth and gotten hooked on it, WHY would anyone want to?

Any idiot KNOWS all this stuff is laying ahead once you start using, it's not like it's a big secret, so with all this knowledge beforehand, how could you have so little self worth that you actually think throwing your life away for a substance that is cooked up in people's homes from everyday toxins and crap is a good idea? I'm sure some people could argue 'oh they don't think about that', well I guess these would be the same people who jump off the high dive before bothering to see if there's even water in the pool? Because when it's a matter of something that can kill you or ruin your life very easily and very quickly, there's no excuse for not thinking. Does anybody else not get this?

Why would anyone want to? I don't know, I'm guessing curiosity? People curious about the high you'd get from it? People looking for a different kind of high?

People who are gonna start using meth, I'm pretty sure aren't going to do their research on what the drug actually is.

It's a little more complicated than that. I don't think it's realistic to think the average person is going to research particular drugs before they try them. People try drugs & alcohol for a lot of reasons from depression to being part of the crowd to just liking the high & like cheaps said, curiosity. And no one does it with the intention of becoming addicted. People, just in general believe they can handle it. But a person can become addicted quickly. And even though it's a more gradual process with alcohol you're looking at something that insidiously pulls you in & by the time you realize you have a problem it's not so easy to run from it when it has you by the throat. No one thinks it's going to happen to them. When it does they're in too deep & too addicted to care.

Meth is just one drug of many and the legality of one over the other is just a political construct and has nothing to do with reality. So, alcohol and cigarettes should be included in any discussion of drugs. (and remember alcohol was once illegal in the "Great Experiment" that failed miserably).

So, why would someone want to become a crack-head or strung out on Meth or alcohol? Gotta be a complex bunch of reasons of human frailty. I have tried many drugs and still drink the occasional glass of wine or beer without becoming addicted to it. And yet some ppl can't do that.

There may be a physiological basis to addiction as well as psychological.

I have known ppl who kicked heroin cold-turkey, yet never could stop smoking cigarettes. Oh and the image of the drug pusher? I have had friends who played around with heroin and one told me never to try it. He said if I ever got down I would always know there was someplace to go. So, I never experienced that euphoria that comes from heroin.
