Cashing a check not at the bank.

Have you ever cashed a check at a liquor store, or check cashing place? A cousin of mine habitually cashes his checks at check cashing places; I don't know why, but it bothers me. I'm always trying to convince to open up an account at my credit union so that he can keep all of his money, but he refuses.

No. Even back when i cashed checks I only used my bank and now I only deposit the check. I use the ATM if I ned cash.

Yeah, I have used a check cashing place before...but that was because I didn't make it to the bank in time and they were closed and I needed my money right away. I always dealt with banks. Perhaps your cousin is on ChexSystems and it's the reason he has to use check cashing places. Or he just doesn't want to have a paper trail. Some people are like that. A friend of mine used to work at one and I would visit her and sit with her at work. She would cash 2k and 3k paychecks from people weekly. They didn't want to deal with a bank because they didn't want that trail.

^^That's kinda how I was, I didn't want to deal with a bank. I barely opened my first checking account a little over a year ago.

I have but I use the bank most of the time.
