    Brown sugar is a ripoff. It used to be the less refined sugar but now they take refined white sugar and put a little molasses back in it. I use molasses a lot.

    Turbinado is the light brown sugar that has not been as refined as white.

    I only like brown sugar in candied sweet potatoes and I guess in whatever cookie or cake recipe calls for it.

    I have no preference ~ love 'em both ~ but I prefer it in oatmeal over white sugar. Oh, and baked yams.

    It's okay on certain things, but I don't use it like that. I just buy regular sugar.
