Is there any specific diseases that frighten you more than others? If so, any particular reason why?

No, I don't think about diseases, and what I may or may not catch.

I'd have to say any disease that robs your body but leaves your mind intact.

He has 8 more rounds of radiation left before they do the testing to see if they killed the cancer. Thanks for asking Uncle.

My wife had that - it is bad. I would likely kill myself before it robbed too much.
More frightening for me is a disease or injury that robs your mind.

I'll keep your family in my prayers, Tony! I hope everything works out for the best and he goes into remission.

The only thing that tends to run in my family is alzheimers. There is no diabetes, cancer, or even high blood pressure. But my father's side of the family all go crazy once they hit their 90s... and they all hit their 90s cause they aren't dying from the cancer, diabetes, or blood pressure.

Breast cancer and Alzheimers. I would says HIV/AIDS too but since it's preventable I don't see it as being as much of a threat.

I don't generally worry about diseases. If there is one that I most certainly would never want to get, it would have to be pancreatic cancer (since it's pretty much a slow and painful death that hardly anyone survives). But it's illogical to "worry" about getting a disease that you could never predict. Worrying is just as likely to cause a disease or some type of infirmity (stress, ulcers, heart disease, etc). So why dwell on something like that in the first place. Stay educated, eat right, exercise regularly, wash your hands after using the restroom and before meals and don't drink the water in Mexico. Beyond that, there isn't much we can realistically do.

Scleroderma. I know that's an odd choice, but it is an extremely agonizing way to die.
I have to agree that Alzheimer's is bad, too, but unfortunately, I am subject to it since that is what killed my mother.

HIV and cancer....can't even look at the words without feeling queasy. I'm one of those people, every little change with my body makes me say "am I sick?" I have to knock on wood just for typing those words....yeah I'm a bit paranoid
