Not for long periods of time so there were no really bad side effects.

I have been sleep deprived before and it always causes depression in me. When I don't get sleep, I'm prone to anger and tears over the slightest things. Not fun.

You become very irritable, depressed, have mood swings and are more prone to fly off the handle quickly.

I think the length I've gone without sleep was one full night, and don't remember the repercussions. Chances are I napped for a few hours next day.
