When you were growing up, were your dinners typical (in other words, was there are recurring theme to the food your mother or father would make?)

Yup, steak, chicken, pork chops, spaghetti, hamburger helper, veggies, etc.

Yeah we've never had a big variety, it'd be spaghetti, or hamburgers and fries, or chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy, or the chicken would be substituted with ham chops or pork chops.

Whatever my mother felt like making. Rice was always a staple in our dinners.

My Mama was a very good cook and we always had pasta at least 2 times a week sometimes 3. Her non pasta meals were always a variety.

Basically what she said. My mother was (and still is) big on corn, rice and rice-a-roni as sides....but aside from that, the usual....hamburgers, chicken, spaghetti, pork chops, cube steaks, etc.
